Terms of use

In short: Hold On is a personal self-help tool. It is not medical or mental-health care and not an emergency service. The counter is free; Pro is an optional one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play. Your data lives on your phone, so keep your phone's backup on or export from time to time.

1. The app

Hold On ("the app") is made by Ben Basha ("we"). By downloading or using it you agree to these terms. If you use the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; on Google Play, Google Play's terms apply. Where these terms and the store's terms disagree, the store's terms win.

2. What the app is, and is not

• Hold On helps you count days without contact, pause before you reach out, and keep private notes. It is a self-help tool.
• It is not medical or mental-health care, it gives no medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor or a licensed professional.
• It is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number. "Need to talk to someone now?" links to findahelpline.com, an independent directory we do not run.
• The app never contacts anyone for you and never reads your messages.

3. Free and Pro

• The counter, the pause screen, writing, history, the app lock, export and the basic widgets are free and are not time-limited.
• Hold On Pro is an optional one-time, non-consumable purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew. It adds presentation extras: more widget sizes and styles, more share card styles, longer summaries, more reminders and accent colours.
• Purchases are made, charged and refunded by Apple or Google under their rules. For a refund, use the store's own process (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com; Google Play: your order history).
• Pro is tied to the store account you bought it with and restores on that store ("Restore purchase" in Me). A purchase on the App Store does not unlock Pro on Google Play, or the other way round.

4. Your data

Your content is stored on your device. We do not run a server and cannot recover your data if your phone is lost, reset or the app is deleted without a backup. Keep your phone's backup on, or use Export in the app. How the app handles data is described in the privacy policy.

5. Acceptable use

Use the app for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not reverse engineer, resell or misuse it, and do not use it to harass or harm anyone.

6. No warranty

The app is provided "as is". We work to keep it reliable, but we do not promise it will be error-free or always available, that counts and milestones will be exact in every clock or time-zone situation, or that widgets and notifications will update at an exact moment (the operating system decides that). To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

8. Changes

We may update the app and these terms. If a change matters, we will update the date above; continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer law of your country of residence says otherwise.
